I can say though that this is one of those times I am glad I stuck to my "Wait for release, watch it unfold, THEN buy it!" strategy. Also I picked up No Man\u00b4s Sky on sale for around 20 euros. So have I been entertained? Was it worth the 20 Euros? Did it pay of to wait? Yes, this game after the NEXT release is simply a pure joy to play. The gameplay is simple and yet challenging because of the grand scale of things. My self I like a game where I can be creative and build things. Even though the base building in No Man\u00b4s Sky is a bit dumbed down and sometimes a bit frustrating in it\u00b4s design, I still L O V E it. It\u00b4s ever so rewarding to travel down into the atmosphere and getting closer and closer to a planet you discovered with a base on a hill that you designed. The joy! Hello Games have really created something remarkably wonderful and I think all the early controversy in the beginning actually made the game better in the end. I can really recommend this game not only because it\u00b4s a good game but the community around it seems to be one of the less toxic around. Good times to be had with this one! :). Do I recommend this game? YESThe game launch was a disaster. Yet where many games would tuck tail, grab as much income as possible and bail, Hello (the dev) stuck with it. They turned this game into everything it should be. Now we are getting true multiplayer and VR! NOW is the time to pull the trigger on this game.To the devs: Thanks for doing the right thing.. Mega recommended if you like freedom to explore, a loosen but solid plot, many side quests and a lot of enigmas and things to do in an endless universe.If you are someone who doesn't need to be guided by the nose and are in control of your destiny, rather than someone who always needs an invisible guiding hand, you're in for a massive treat with this game. It's different from anything I have played before.I started playing much after the initial fiasco, so I haven't known the bad side of the game, so you can take this review as you want, but at the current state of the game, it's freaking well worth your money. No DLCs, several massive updates for free, no microtransactions, no lootboxes or season passes and all that poop that comes with modern big games, etc etc bla bla bla.If you are on the fence if you should or not forbid the devs in their initial lies and fiasco, I would say yes, give them a second chance, they more than redeemed themselves from what I heard from people who played the game at launch.Have fun!. Honestly I didn't really follow the initial outrage when this game dropped. Rarely do I get to play games when they launch mostly because of my schedule. I usually play games 1-2 years after they release with the rare exception of a game that I've been looking forward to. There are too many games and not enough time to play them all. I picked No Man's Sky up on sale and didn't really know too much about it. It just looked cool so I got it and have put about 4 hours in. The learning curve is kind of steep and I was expecting more story and hand holding instead of getting dropped in the middle of nowhere with s hit to fix and resources to gather right from the get go. I was kind of frustrated for the first hour but once I started figuring everything out it all clicked and I enjoyed it so much I kept playing for a few more hours. I've been pretty amazed by the whole thing so far. I understand people were bitter because they got their expectations over inflated because of the pre-release hype. I went into this with zero expectations and feel like it is a really fun game. The graphics are really good. I've only explored one planet and a moon so far. I can see easily dumping many hours into this game before it gets too repetitive. If I grow sick of it and feel like I've seen everything after dumping 50+ hours into the game I'll feel like I got my money's worth. All I can say is if you haven't played it and like grinding and exploring then check it out. I didn't have crazy expectations regarding plot or story. I'm sure I have yet to dig into the main storyline yet but it doesn't seem like it is even necessary to play the game. I've just been wandering around exploring and building a base on one of the moons of the planet I started on. I have never played any games with seamless space travel before. Maybe I'm easily amused but flying up out of the atmosphere of a planet for the first time was cool as hell. Just the space travel aspect of all of it is cool as hell to me.. I'm conflicted. I had some fun going through the missions, upgrading my ships\/bases\/capital and fleet. At some point in between doing all that, the game became stale and repetitive. Serious work is needed in content department. Also fix that RNG for ships and multi-tools.. This game is incredibly fun now.
